The first thought that
could possibly come to the mind at the mention of the term “World History” would be the maps of
countries which fought the World Wars, majestic images of the leaders of the 18th
century, freedom fighters, creation of new nation-states and in totality, a
grand picture of change which could be overwhelming. And the good news is that
there is absolutely no need for you to fear as far as the Civil Services
Examination is concerned, as you will have to master only few selected topics
and that can be accomplished by focusing on understanding the basics. World
History has more weightage in the Mains Examination and therefore it is
imperative to analyse the causes and results instead of facts and figures.
All the major revolutions
which played an important role in the course of World History must be learnt
thoroughly. Critical examination of the
First World War and the Second World War as total wars is a complete necessity.
It is of paramount significance to learn Post World War developments and draw
